Water Project Timeline

Many people have asked me about the timeline for the Water Project. There are 4 Contracts with the Water Project here in Gilbertsville.

Contract 1: Water Mains and Metering. This includes putting in the meters in individual homes (which will start mid September). Projected Completion Date is 3rd Week in November. With them returning next year to complete restoration.

Contract 2: The water tank: This is completed, and $12,000 under contract cost.

Contract 3 and 4: This is the manganese plant, Building is in Centennial park, which is projected to be completed January-February 2020.

Curb-Box Hook Ups to Water Mains

As many of you have noticed, the construction workers are hooking up the water mains to the curb-boxes going to each house. There are 2 reasons right now that your water is being shut off for a couple of hours at a time. 1. They accidentally hit a main while digging, and 2. They turn it off on purpose to hook up the curb-boxes leading to your house. We as a Village need to do a better job letting home owners know when the water is being shut off. I have contacted both the Engineer on the project and the company foreman, to either let Richard Gilbert know, so he can let the homeowners know when this is happening, with a note on your door or a verbal communication. The foreman (Brian) said he would also try to get to the individual homeowners before they shut off the water that day. We will continue to do the best we can communicating, especially now as the water mains have to be hooked to the individual houses.
